The ETMVL began active play with 8 teams in 1984 for players 18 years of age and older. Eight years later the league grew to 40 teams then to 60 teams representing 5 divisions by 1994 – Divisions A–DD. Due to facility cutbacks, the league restructured to it current size with teams representing three divisions – A–C.
A volunteer Executive duly elected before the start of each season runs the league. The league is governed by the ETMVL Constitution written after it’s second season and a set of rules that enforce its recreational values and complement the OVA rules and regulations.
The league uses a mix of City or Toronto Community Centers and Board of Education facilities to run its games from October to end of April. In that time teams enjoy up to 25 weeks of volleyball.
The league is proud of its status within the community. Throughout the years the league has hosted community teams from Clifton House, Covenant House and Regent Park. As well, over the years the league has donated more than $10,000 back to the Community Centers for their community programs.
You have a volleyball home in the ETMVL.
